As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.  (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

Respected Burhan Bhai As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh I sent you a question in last June but till date I did not get any reply so I am again sending the question which is as follows.What is the logic that in Islam  Self masturbation is prohibited while the medical science describe Masturbation a normal phenomenon such as breathing eating etc. Now I would like to write my question in details .I have two  elder brothers both are married Take the case of my elder brother his wife want that he should stop meeting his family members ( including parents ) for ever .Take the case of my second brother when he forget to bring some thing such as cosmetics etc his wife goes to her parents house in protest and the result my brother get tensed and now take my case I am earning well that I can easily marry but I am scared even from the name of marriage as I think if I married I am also going to face same problems as my brothers are facing now .I  am 25 year old and frankly speaking I too have sexual desire which I fulfill by masturbating .When I can fulfill my sexual urge by Masturbating what is the need of marriage for me , as Masturbation keeps me free from mental  tensions which my brothers are facing .Reply soon.

Answer:

Why marry if one can fulfill need by masturbation?

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person,  no grave, no prophet,  no imam,  no dai,  nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad(saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

The act of masturbation is strictly prohibited in Islam, and must be avoided by the believers.

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter24 Surah Noor verse 30: O Prophet,  enjoin the believing men to restrain their gaze,  and guard their private parts.   This is a more righteous way for them.   Allah has knowledge of whatever they do.

Allah has commanded the believers to lower their gaze,  and guard their chastity.   This is a more righteous way for them.  The Prophet (saws) warned us against committing ‘zina’ of the eyes,  ‘zina’ of the feet,  ‘zina’ of the hands, etc.  If one’s eyes are constantly watching sexual movies, magazines, etc.,  it would be considered ‘zina’ of the eyes. If one goes to the place to commit ‘zina’ or to the place of sexual movies, magazines, etc., it would be considered ‘zina’ of the feet.  Similarly,  the act of masturbation,  could be considered a ‘zina’ of the eyes, or hands, etc.  It is a sin and an evil act,  and must be avoided by the believers.

Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 3.129         Narrated by Alqama

While I was walking with Abdullah he said, "We were in the company of the Prophet (saws) and he (saws) said, 'He who can afford to marry should marry, because it will help him refrain from looking at other women, and save his private parts from committing illegal sexual relation; and he who cannot afford to marry is advised to fast, as fasting will diminish his sexual power.' "

Your Question: When I can fulfill my sexual urge by Masturbating what is the need of marriage for me , as Masturbation keeps me free from mental  tensions which my brothers are facing

Al-Tirmidhi Hadith 3096        Narrated by Anas ibn Malik

Allah's Messenger (saws) said, "When a man marries, he has fulfilled half of the religion; so let him fear Allah regarding the remaining half."

Beloved brother, it would not be intelligence, nor considered righteous in the sight of Allah Subhanah, nor natural,  if one is able to get married, but chooses not to follow this Sunnah simply because one is able to fulfill his natural physical needs through illegal channels of satisfactions!   If every man in the world followed this chain of thought, there would soon come a time when the human race would become extinct; and if your father and my father followed this procedure, neither you nor me would come into existence!

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 23 Surah Muminoon verses 1-7:

1        The Believers must (eventually) win through.

2        Those who humble themselves in their prayers;

3        Who avoid vain talk;

4        Who are active in deeds of charity;

5        Who abstain from sex

6        Except with those joined to them in the marriage bond, or (the captives) whom their right hands possess; for (in their case) they are free from blame.

7          But those whose desires exceed those limits, are transgressors

If one tries to fulfill his natural sexual desires out of the bonds of legal marriage, they will indeed be deemed transgressors in the sight of Allah Subhanah, and will be called upon to give a full account of their transgression in the Just Court of Allah Subhanah on an Inevitable Day.

Fulfilling ones natural and legal sexual desires is only a part of the institution and sacred bond of marriage, and a recommended Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (saws); so much so, that the Messenger of Allah (saws) said that the man who has married has fulfilled half of his deen!

Rather than abstaining from following the Sunnah and marrying, and fearing that the same will befall you what befell your brothers in marriage; it would be best and righteous to take the advice of the Messenger of Allah (saws) and seek the right woman in marriage.

Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 7.27 Narrated by Abu Huraira

The Prophet (saws) said, "A woman is married for four things, i.e., her wealth, her family status, her beauty, and her religion. So you should marry the religious woman (otherwise) you will be a loser."

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me.  Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your Brother in Islam,

Burhan
