Translation of the Holy Quran

Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.  (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

Dear Mr. Burhan Bhai,

Once again thank you very much for sending all the missing 12 questions & answers that I had earlier missed out and as advised earlier these are really worthwhile reading and informative.

Burhanbhai, can you pls ensure you send me from time to time ayaats and its translation in English from the holy Qura'an PLUS the details of Prophet (saws) Sunnah to enable us to increase and update our knowledge of Islam. Though I have already recd from you Abt 08 Archive copies of Sabak, but definitely you would be having some more of these and will appreciate you send me these. You had also earlier promised me that you would send me English translation of holy Qura'an ayaat by ayaat and wonder if you have done this and hope to receive this as well very soon.

Pls advise.

Your Brother,

Translation of the Holy Quran

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and who-ever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Jazak Allah Kheir (may Allah reward you with the Best) and Baarik Allaho Feek (May Allah give you Barakah from Himself), for your kind comments.   May Allah reward you for taking the time and the effort to search for the Truth, which Allah has commanded as a duty to all His slaves, but only the ones who really fear Allah and the Last Day obey His commandment.   Brother, it is obvious from your emails, that Allah has blessed you with a quest for knowledge, and we pray that Allah increase your knowledge in Islam.   May Allah have Mercy and Grace on you and us, and guide us to come to the worship of the One True Lord and Creator, and guide us from His Mercy to stay away from the fire of Hell.

Ref:  Holy Quran in English

My beloved brother in Islam, whenever you get our email q&a / sabaqs, there is a link at the bottom of the mail which has the translation of the whole Glorious Quran in English by Brother Abdulla Yusuf Ali.   There are many other translations available by many eminent authors and Allah Alone Knows Best, all of them have tried to convey the message of the Holy Quran to the people who read English. If you read any or all the translations, Insha Allah, the core meaning and the guidance of the Quran remains the same and does not change.

It maybe that you have difficulty in accessing the internet or the link on our emails… thus to start with, I am forwarding the translation of the 2nd Surah of the Glorious Quran, Al Baqarah in English by an attached mail.

Brother, my sincere advice to you would be to procure a copy of the translation of the Glorious Quran from any Islamic Bookshop in the world, or even from the internet.  That would be the easiest and best way to read the meanings of the Glorious Quran.  Reading the whole Quran translation from the computer would be a little tiresome, to say the least.   But the choice is yours.   We are willing to forward the whole translation to you by email if you prefer to receive it that way …  We have no problems whatsoever in doing so for the Pleasure of Allah Subhanah Alone.   May Allah accept and quench your thirst for knowledge … and brother, I assure you, these aayahs of the Holy Quran are the very words of our Lord and Creator, and they are the source of all Knowledge.   This knowledge will benefit you in this world, and will be the only source of success in the Hereafter.  Whatever it takes, my beloved brother, read the Quran with understanding, and beg Allah to guide you to His Mercy and His Forgiveness.

The Prophet (saws) said in a famous narration: “If a slave of Allah takes one step towards Allah, Allah takes a hundred steps towards him.  And if a slave of Allah walks towards Allah, Allah comes running towards him.”

This is how much our Creator loves us and has Mercy for us.  But the condition is that we must make the first effort… and by making the intention to understand His Message, Alhamdolillah, you have made the first effort.  May Allah bless you and your family with contentment in this world, and honor you with Paradise in the Hereafter.

Ref:  The Sunnah of the Prophet (saws)

Brother, the truth is that the Sunnah of our beloved Messenger of Allah (saws) is nothing but a life example of how to live the commandments of the Holy Quran.   There are many scholars who have collected the ‘ahaadiths’ of the Messenger of Allah (saws), and some are more respected than others.   The most authentic and well respected among these collections are the volumes of books called:

Sahih Al Bukhari

Sahih Al Muslim

There are many other scholars who have collected the ‘ahaadith’ of the Messenger of Allah (saws), and even if you read any one of them it would more than suffice. Again this is available in English in most Islamic Bookshops and on the internet.  I can also send it you the same way I have forwarded the translation of the Holy Quran to you if you like….

But brother, I would like you to bear in mind, that all these ‘ahaadiths’ are after all the work of man, unlike the Holy Quran, which is the work of none other than the Creator of the Universe, The All Wise, The All Knowing, Allah Subhanah.  The words of Allah will always be Supreme to any combination of the work of man. Thus, to really benefit from the guidance and teachings of Islam, you must read the Holy Quran first with understanding. That is the base source of all Islamic knowledge.  After that, you can read as many books as you like, to increase your knowledge.

There are some people who advice mankind to read other books (which themselves use the Quran as their source) before they read the Quran.   What happens sometimes here is that the reader gets confused from this opinion of this scholar, and that opinion of that scholar.  The Quran is the work of the Master and Creator of all the scholars. It is the work of Allah Subhanah Himself, and the Quran has absolutely no flaws or crookedness or contradictions in it whatsoever.  Once you read and understand the Holy Quran, all the other opinions fall in its place in front of the clear and direct commandments of our Lord and Creator.

Your Comment: Though I have already recd from you Abt 08 Archive copies of Sabak, but definitely you would be having some more of these and will appreciate you send me these. You had also earlier promised me that you would send me English translation of holy Qura'an ayaat by ayaat and wonder if you have done this and hope to receive this as well very soon.

The truth is brother, we started this forum a couple of months ago for our friends and family, and by the Grace and Mercy of Allah, it has been such a success in terms of readership and the propagation of Islam, that we are frankly unable to cope with the number of questions we have received.   We try to answer every single question we receive on the forum, whether they agree with us, or they curse us.  Allah has made them our brothers in faith, and we are commanded to respect that relationship that Allah has bound us with.  Thus, if I am not mistaken, we have only written about 12 sabaqs, where we explain each aayah in detail.   We have given preference to answering the various questions of our brothers, and if Allah gives us life to serve His Cause and Propagate the Truth of the Quran, we will Insha Allah try and formulate a aayah by aayah sabaq for the whole Quran, Insha Allah.  We pray that Allah honor us to serve His Cause and forgive us our sins on the Day, when nothing but His Mercy will be between us going to the eternal Gardens of Bliss, or the ever lasting torture of the fire of Hell.

The Messenger of Allah said in a famous narration: “The best amongst you are those who learn the Quran, and those who teach it.”

May Allah make us of those, Insha Allah, who learn and teach the clear and open guidance of the Holy Quran to all mankind.

My beloved brother, we have sent you the English translation of the whole of Chapter 2 Surah Al Baqarah.   We would be delighted to send you the whole Quran in a similar manner, but like we said, it would be easier for you to procure the copy of the Holy Quran in a book store.   We await your instructions and it would be a pleasure for us to be able to serve you for the Pleasure of Allah Subhanah Alone.

May Allah increase yours and our knowledge in Islam and guide us all to the Siraat al Mustaqeem.   May Allah help us, guide us, and save us from the torment of the fire of Hell.   May Allah keep you and your family always in His Infinite Protection, Mercy and Grace.  Ameen.

May Allah guide you and us all to the Siraat al-Mustaqeem

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me.  Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
